F. Thomas Rowland, North Central Telephone’s president and CEO, has submitted his request for retirement to the NCTC Board of Directors, effective September 1, 2008. The board is scheduled to meet soon to discuss the leadership transition. “Having worked for North Central and this community for more than 20 years, this announcement is bitter sweet for me,” Rowland said. “It’s time for me to spend more time with my family and concentrate on personal matters. But I have been honored to be part of the progress of North Central over these two decades and will miss it greatly.”
Rowland has offered to stay through the transition of the next manager.
Rowland can be credited for putting North Central “on the map,” having done much to shape the cooperative into a telecom industry leader.
Coming to NCTC from Daviess-Martin Rural Telephone Company in Montgomery, IN, Rowland represented NCTC on the Board of Trustees of the National Telephone Cooperative Association for several years, serving as president of that organization most recently.
Rowland and his family have become an integral part of the cooperative and the community. Details on the leadership transition will follow the board’s meeting.
