Macon County Mayor Shelvy Linville signed two proclamations on Monday, declaring May 7, 2012 as National Nurses Day and the week of May 6-12, 2012, as National Hospital Week.
The proclamations read as follows:
National Nurses Day Proclamation
“Whereas the American Nurses Association along with Macon County General Hospital has declared May 7, 2012 as NATIONAL NURSES DAY with the theme “Nursing: A Profession and a Passion” in celebration of the ways in which nurses strive to provide safe and high quality patient care and map out the way to improve our health care system; therefore be it that I, Shelvy Linville, County Mayor, ask that all residents of Macon County join me in honoring the nurses who care for all of us.

National Hospital Week Proclamation
Whereas National Hospital Week is May 6-12, 2012, and the official theme is “Making Miracles Happen;” And whereas individuals all across the country will be celebrating this time-honored event; And whereas the hard working people that compose our hospitals deserve universal regard and appreciation for keeping our community healthy; Be in known that on this 7th day of May, I, Mayor Shelvy Linville, mayor of Macon County, do hereby declare May 6-12, 2012, to be Hospital Week in Lafayette, TN, and urge residents to express their appreciation for the people, facilities, and technologies that make trustworthy, reliable healthcare possible in our community.
