For the second time in less than a week, a car crash on Macon County roads has resulted in a death.Twenty-year-old Joseph Blake Jenkins, of Lafayette, was traveling west on Trent Road at a high rate of speed, when he lost control, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a large tree on the drivers door of his 2004 Chevrolet automobile.
Investigating officer THP Trooper Danny Fisher, said that Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Investigator Steve Jones, following the Friday night, June 1st accident. His rate of speed is still undetermined.
Responders were the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs
Department, Macon County EMS, Lafayette Fire Department, Macon County Rescue Squad, and Newberry’s Towing.
Funeral services for Joseph Jenkins were held on Monday, June 4th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with interment following in the Akersville Cemetery.
He is survived by son, Jordon Jenkins and special friend Kelsey Fishburn both of Lafayette; father, Lee Jenkins of Ft. Run; brother, Johnathan Jenkins of Ft. Run; grandparents, Noel & Linda Jenkins of Lafayette, J.C. & Sherry Warner of Hartsville; great grandmother, Virginia Gooch of Sheffield, Ala.; aunts, Brandy & Rodney Jones of Hartsville, Angie & Jamie Stafford of Lafayette; uncles, Kent & Janet Jenkins of Fountain Run, Brent Jenkins & Margaret Blankenship of Lafaeyette, and Stacy & Terry Warner of Hartsville; cousins, Cody, Cheyann & Jonah Clay Jenkins and Jada Jones of Hartsville.
Alexander Funeral Home, in Lafayette, were in charge of arrangements.
