The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a single shot that was fired at the front window of Capitol Cash, which is located on the Public Square in Lafayette.
Capitol Cash Manager Jenny Blanford was notified around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, July 15th, that there was a cracked front glass at the business, and upon further inspection the police found a single bullet hole with the casing lying near by.
Chief Ray Amalfitano talked to the manager on Monday morning and he is speculating that the bullet was possibly a 380 caliber.
“It is very unfortunate that it’s come to shooting around the public square,” said Chief Amalfitano, “but thankfully it happened on a Sunday when the business was closed and there wasn’t much traffic on the square. This matter is under investigation and we are considering every lead in our attempt to find the person who did this.”
When contacted, Conserv Group LLC, who own Capitol Cash, stated that this is a pending investigation and they are reviewing the tapes at this time.
“We are waiting on the official results before I can comment further,” said Manager Jenny Blanford.
