Macon County Sheriffs Department Detective Donnie Crawford has charged three out-of-county men with theft of property after they attempted to steal a tractor and small motorcycle from Hawkins Road, in the northwest section of the county.
Detective Crawford said that on Sunday, October 14th, he was advised by Sgt. Mark Brawner of a situation involving theft at John and Carla Howard’s property at 1889 Hawkins Road.
“Evidently Mr. and Mrs. Howard had driven to their property at this location,” said Detective Crawford “and when they arrived they found a truck backed in and three male individuals loading up a $40,000 tractor and a motorcycle valued at $4,000 without their permission.”
The men have been identified as 34-year-old Sheron Davis of Nashville, 45-year-old Anthony Singleton of Memphis, and 46-year-old Otis Singleton also of Nashville.
According to Crawford, the suspects were interrupted when the homeowner arrived that afternoon and confronted them. The men quickly jumped in their truck with Otis Singleton driving, and while leaving the property, he hit the owners’ vehicle.
Sumner County officers apprehended the trio and Macon County deputies picked them up and transported them to the Macon County Justice Center, where Detective Crawford questioned the suspects, then booked them into jail.
Otis Singleton is charged with theft of property, theft over $1,000 and vandalism; Anthony Singleton is charged with theft of property (2 cts.); and Sheron Davis was also charged with theft of property (2 cts.) A General Sessions court date is scheduled for all three on November 7th.
