Two Jailed for Aggravated Assault

The Lafayette Police Department responded to an assault call at Cherry’s Trailer Park, lot No. 30 on Sunday, August 11.

According to LPD Detective Keith Tillman, twenty-two-year old Anthony Dewayne Barrett and 28-year-old Joshua Lee Wilson, both of Lafayette, went to visit someone at the trailer park and a confrontation ensued. “Barrett and Wilson began to assault a young man at the residence,” said Detective Tillman, “and they left him laying in the yard.”

Friends took the young man to the emergency room at Macon County General Hospital where he was treated and released. “Later on that morning he was taken to Skyline Hospital where he was treated for a concussion and bleeding on the brain,” said the detective. “He has since been released.”

An investigation was conducted and charges were filed on Barrett and Wilson. “Anthony Barrett was picked up on Wednesday, August 14th and Joshua Wilson was picked up on Thursday, August 15,” added Detective Tillman. “They were picked up on those warrants in the courtroom.”

Joshua Wilson was also charged by LPD Officer Pat Looper for aggravated assault by strangulation, which occurred at 901 Freeman Street, in Lafayette, also on August 11.
