A man accused of killing a woman in Indianapolis, Indiana, was arrested in Macon County on Thursday, August 29, and is currently awaiting extradition.
According to Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department was made aware that Indiana murder suspect David R. Lawrence, age 31, could possibly be in the area just days before his capture.
Officers began investigating Lawrence’s whereabouts with assistance from the Indianapolis Police Department and were notified last Thursday afternoon that the suspect had been identified in the Peggy’s Market parking lot.
“Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons, with assistance from deputies and the Westmoreland Police Department, was able to apprehend Lawrence without incident,” Chief Satterfield stated. “He was then booked into the Macon County Jail on a Fugitive from Justice warrant and is awaiting extradition to Indiana to face charges.”
During their investigation, local authorities also recovered a vehicle on the west side of the county that was stolen out of Indiana and was connected to Lawrence.
Sheriff Gammons would like to thank his deputies, 911 dispatchers and the Westmoreland Police Department for their hard work and dedication in apprehending this extremely dangerous fugitive.
