According to Chief Deputy Bryon Satterfield, the first vehicle, a 2002 Ford box truck valued at over $5,000, was reported stolen from the Scottsville Road area on Friday, January 2, 2015.

The following Sunday, deputies responded to the Twins Lane area in Macon County and discovered the reported vehicle stuck in the mud in a homeowner’s lawn.

After gathering information, the vehicle was identified, the owner was notified and the vehicle was returned. The investigation remains open.

A second stolen vehicle was reported on Sunday, January, 4, 2015, when deputies were called to a residence on Old Highway 52 on the west side of the county. The stolen vehicle, a 1999 Chevy pickup truck valued at over $1,000, was entered into a nationwide database.

“Later that same day deputies received information from the Memphis, Tennessee, Police Department, that the vehicle had been recovered in their city,” Satterfield stated.

Macon County Sheriff’s Department detectives were also notified of the vehicle’s recovery and are currently working a joint investigation with the Memphis Police Department.

At this time, suspects have been identified in the case and charges are pending.
