On Sunday night, March 15, the Lafayette Police Department was dispatched to Walmart, located on Highway 52 By Pass West, in reference to a possible robbery that had occurred.

While responding one of the officers saw a vehicle speeding out of the parking lot and he proceeded to go after him.

The blue vehicle ran over the curb and supposedly almost hit another vehicle while getting away. “Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but he wouldn’t stop,” said LPD Lt. Jason Roberts. “They pursued him to the Kentucky State Line, and then Allen County was notified.”

According to the LPD, the woman at Walmart reported to the investigating officers that a suspicious looking man had been following her inside the Walmart Store while talking on a cell phone. Apparently, when she stopped to look at the jewelry, the man said I’ve got to let you go and he grabbed her wallet and took off running out of the store.

The suspect has been identified.

 This is an on-going investigation.
