Two people were arrested after a car wreck on Cold Springs Road late Monday afternoon, May 4. There was also an improperly restrained baby involved that was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

53-year-old Danny Casas was operating a eastbound 2005 Nissan Altima on Cold Springs Road when he failed to keep the proper lane of travel. According to Investigator Trooper Justin Mote, the vehicle traveled off the side of the roadway, down an embankment and struck a tree. “The passenger, 52-year-old Alisa Niette was holding a baby that was not properly restrained,” said Trooper Mote. “The baby was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital.”Casas and Niette were carried to Macon County General Hospital, where they were treated and released. Both were arrested by Trooper Mote and carried to the Justice Center.Danny Casas was charged with DUI, implied consent and possession of a Schedule IV drugs.Alisa Niette was charged with possession of Schedule IV drugs and 3 counts of legend drugs  without a prescription.The Department of Children Services (DCS) was contacted and they are also investigating the accident.Other charges are pending.First responders were the Macon County EMS, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Sheriffs Office, and the Macon County Chronicle.
