Sheriff Mark Gammons and the Macon County Sheriffs Office has arrested and charged 27-year-old James David Rentfro, of Hartsville, with criminal homicide after he fatally shot Sherman Brady, age 51, at his residence on Sunday morning, May 17.
“On Sunday morning, May 17, around 11:00 a.m., we received a call at the Sheriffs Office from a woman at 273 Beech Hill Lane, stating that her husband wasn’t acting right and officers responded to the call,” said Sheriff Gammons.
According to the Sheriff, him and Detective Darrell Taylor also responded to the address and during the investigation they found out that James Rentfro had came from the residence of Mr. Sherman Brady. “He had went there and shot Mr. Brady numerous times,” said Sheriff Gammons. “Brady was pronounced deceased at his home.”
“We recovered the weapon used in the shooting and Mr. Rentfro is being held in the Macon County Jail with no bond,” added Gammons. “He is charged with criminal homicide.”
This crime is still under investigation and the Macon County Sheriffs Office is handling the case.
