A press release sent in to the Chronicle last week by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated that 55-year-old Edward Walsh, of the Hilham community in Clay County, was arrested for the gruesome murder of a woman and accused of burying her dismembered remains in a shallow grave.
The work to identify the woman’s remains was ongoing at the time of this release, however, the victim has since been identified as 38-year-old Melisha Mosier, also known as Melisha K. Ludick, - Walsh’s girlfriend who had been reported missing about a month before her body was discovered.
According to authorities, after receiving the suspect’s consent, deputies searched his property, located on Logan Spears Road in Clay County, which led to the disturbing discovery of Mosier’s dismembered body.
Because of the nature of the crime, agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were called in by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to help investigate.
Authorities arrested Walsh on Wednesday, August 12, and charged him with one count of Second Degree Murder.
According to a statement released by the office of District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, it’s anticipated that more charges will follow.
At the time of the press release, he was being held in the Clay County Jail.
The investigation into Melisha’s death is ongoing.
