Amy Aulick

Amy Aulick, of Lafayette, was arrested on October 21 after the Macon County Grand Jury indicted her on charges stemming from a 2015 two-vehicle wreck she was involved in, that resulted in the death of a man.

The sealed indictment was served on 27-year-old Amy Aulick and she faces the following charges:  (1ct.) criminally negligent homicide and (2 cts.) reckless endangerment - deadly weapon involved.

As previously reported in the Macon County Chronicle on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Amy Aulick was driving east on Highway 52 West in a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer when she attempted to illegally pass a Chevy Silverado hauling cattle and struck a 2000 Mercury Sable head on, near the Old Highway 52 intersection. Michael Eugene Scruggs, 36, of Westmoreland was behind the wheel of the Sable.

Mr. Scruggs was unresponsive at the scene but was resuscitated and flown by air ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Amy Auluck was transported to Skyline Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger in the Scruggs car was Kim Rogers who wasn’t hurt. The back seat passenger was a juvenile who was transported for medical treatment.

The wreck was investigated by Trooper Justin Mote, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. 

Aulick is scheduled to appear in court on November 4.
