In honor of Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, several events are scheduled this week to honor and pay tribute to our local veterans.

Events include:

Macon County Sheriff’s Dept. Veterans Day Celebration - November 10

The Macon County Sheriff’s Department welcomes all veterans and their families to attend ‘A Small Ceremony of Great Appreciation’ on Thursday, November 10, at the Macon County Sheriff’s Office at 4 p.m. Soup and chili will be served following the ceremony.

Macon County Veterans Day Parade - November 11

This year’s Macon County Veterans Day Parade will be held Friday, November 11. It will kickoff at 11 a.m. at the County Courthouse with an opening ceremony, the laying of the Memorial Wreath, and the playing of Taps. The Parade will begin from the Courthouse immediately after this. It will depart the square via College Street (Hwy 10 South) to Hwy 52. Then turning west on Hwy 52 to Ellington Drive. Turning right onto Ellington Drive and proceeding to Church Street. The parade will head East on Church Street and end at Key Park. Once at Key Park, there will be a closing ceremony/celebration with guest speaker Captain Henry Behr and entertainment by Jeff Hudson, followed by a hotdog & hamburger lunch. Lineup for the floats and other entries will be down Main Street starting at the corner of Public Square, beginning at 10 a.m.  This year’s Parade Honoree will be Autrey ‘Sarge’ Dye. The theme for this year’s parade is “God & Country”. The first place parade winner’s name will be engraved on a plaque that will hang in the Veterans Service Officer’s office. Veterans Program at the Palace - November 11

The Palace would like to invite anyone who would like to come and participate in the Veterans Day Program Celebration at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs. 

Veterans Ham Supper - November 11

A free ham supper will be provided for all veterans and their spouses on Friday, November 11, at Lafayette First Assembly of God from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
