The Macon County Sheriffs Department has arrested the suspect they believe to be responsible for a recent string of break-ins and thefts across the county.

Nathan Wayne Carver, age 23, of Lafayette, was apprehended on November 11, following an in-depth investigation conducted by local detectives.

“At this time we have connected Mr. Carver to three home break-ins and six barn/building break-ins,” stated Detective Shane Gregory. “Some of his victims were people he knew, and others were people he had never met.”

Most of the stolen items have been returned to their rightful owners including two cars - a Ford Taurus and a Plymouth Acclaim, a Chevy pickup truck, two 4-wheelers, a Honda Tracker side-by-side and a riding lawn mower. 

Stolen guns and other miscellaneous items were also recovered by authorities. 

Carver was charged with theft of property (8 counts), reckless endangerment, vandalism, driving on a suspended license, evading arrest (two counts), criminal trespassing (8 counts), violation of probation, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated burglary and failure to appear. 

His bond was set and $27,000, and he currently remains an inmate at the Macon County Jail. 

Carver is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on November 23, 2016.

This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
