A Lafayette woman has died from injuries she sustained in a January head-on collision and District Attorney General Tommy Thompson says that a further investigation of the wreck has begun.As previously reported in the Macon County Chronicle, on Thursday night, January 19, a car and truck collided head-on near Coley’s Market on Highway 52 East around 7 p.m.
According to wreck investigator THP Sgt. Ashley Mercer, Martin Perez, of Red Boiling Springs, was driving east in a red Toyota pickup truck in the west bound lane. Janett Woods, age 67, was driving a red Chevy Cobalt west toward Lafayette and was struck head on by Perez.
Janett was transported for medical treatment and she died from those injuries at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, on Monday, February 13, 2017.
At the time of the wreck, Sgt. Mercer charged 31-year-old Martin Perez with DUI, no driver’s license, and left of center.
Funeral services for Ms. Janett Browning Woods were conducted on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Bro. Shaun Dozier officiating. Interment was in the Scott Cemetery.
