Clay County Man Charged With First Degree Murder

Jackson County, TN - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation charged a Clay County, TN, man with First Degree Murder for the death of another Clay County, TN, man who’s body was discovered dumped last week in Jackson County, TN. Joe Edward Daniels, 38, Cherry Tree Apartments, Celina, TN is in the Jackson County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a wreck along Highway 56 in Jackson County, TN and found an abandoned, crashed pick up truck. The truck contained evidence that appeared to be related to a crime.  

The next day, a woman walking her dog discovered Walter Grey King’s body about a half a mile from where the truck was found. King, 39, also lived in the Cherry Tree Apartments, Celina, TN.

Daniels is accused of shooting King in the head, dumping his body on Sugar Creek Road and wrecking his truck. TBI’s Crime Scene Team processed the truck for evidence on August 20, 2008.
