Calling all Ronnie McDowell fans!
The Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs invites you to be their guest for a Ronnie McDowell Weekend, November 10-11.
Events begin Friday, November 10, with a family-style dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a book and print signing by Ronnie McDowell at 7 p.m.
There will be no entry fee for dinner guests attending the signing event. The cost to only attend the signing event is $5.
During the Friday night event, McDowell will unveil his newest painting ‘2017 Christmas at The Donoho.’
So what inspired McDowell to include one of Macon County’s most famous landmarks in his latest painting?
“The Donoho is one of the most beautiful, old hotels in the country,” the artist remarked. “I just love the spirit there, and I think about it all of the time. It just made sense.”
Prints of the new painting, and all of his older paintings, will be for sale along with his two books.
On Saturday, November 11, at 7 p.m., McDowell will perform live at The Donoho Hotel theatre, with special guests Mark Inlow (as Roy Orbison) and Julie Keech Harris.
A family-style dinner will be served prior to the concert at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets to the concert are $25 each and can be purchased by calling (615) 600-2964.
McDowell’s love for Red Boiling Springs is no secret as he has scheduled numerous events there over the years, but his fans may not know that his father was a regular visitor in 1915-1917.
“My dad would go every year and camp out in Red Boiling Springs for two weeks,” he said. “He talked about it all of the time. Back then, Red Boiling Springs was like the Pigeon Forge of today. I have a very special connection the city because of my dad.”
To make your dinner and/or room reservations contact The Donoho Hotel at (615) 699-3141. The family-style dinner includes a beverage and dessert and costs $14 per person.
