A Portland woman was arrested Sunday, July 1, after Macon County officers discovered meth and marijuana inside her vehicle - likely for the purpose of resale.
According to the incident report filed by Deputy Jason Sells of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, he was on patrol on the westside of the county when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically.
While checking the driver’s license, Deputy Sells noticed a lot of movement inside the vehicle between the driver and passenger and received consent to search the vehicle.
Officer Sells was being assisted by Deputy Josh McClard when they discovered meth, meth pipes and meth straws - used to ingest methamphetamine.
The officers also seized approximately 2.05 ounces of marijuana from the vehicle and multiple clear, plastic baggies typically used to package drugs for resale.
The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old April Dawn Dean, of Portland, TN, did state that all of the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to her, and she was transported to the Macon County Jail on charges of manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, manufacture of narcotics, driving left of center and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bond was set at $7,700, and Dean is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on July 15.
