An investigation by the TBI to uncover the events that led to the deaths of seven people in Westmoreland, is continuing this week after suspect Michael Cummins was taken into custody Saturday night following a massive manhunt.

According to a TBI press release, special agents began investigating the deaths on Saturday night, shortly after authorities responded to a 911 call and found the bodies of four individuals in a home on Charles Brown Road in Westmoreland. There was a fifth victim at the scene, who was transported to the hospital. Authorities soon learned of a second scene, a short distance away on Luby Brown Road, where they discovered another deceased individual. TBI Forensic Scientists, who were processing the scene on Charles Brown Road located the bodies of two more homicide victims at that location on Sunday, bringing the death toll to seven.
The release states that during the course of the investigation, authorities developed information leading to 25-year-old Michael Cummins, as the suspect in the crimes. During the massive manhunt by law enforcement agencies from across the region, TBI employed its aircraft and located in a creek bed approximately one mile fom the first scene, indications of an individual, More than a dozen law enforcement officers from Sumner County’s joint SWAT Team went to that location, where they encountered Cummins. The situation escalated, and resulted in an officer firing his gun, striking Cummins, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
According to information released by the TBI on Monday, the victims are: 51-year-old David Carl Cummins, the father of Michael Cummins; 44-year-old Clara Jane Cummins, the mother of Michael Cummins; 45-year-old Charles Edward Hosale, the uncle of Michael Cummins; 43-year-old Rachel Dawn McGlothlin-Pee, relationship to Cummins unknown at time of this release; 12-year-old Sapphire McGlothlin-Pee, Rachel’s daughter; 64-year-old Marsha Elizabeth Nuckols, Rachel’s mother; 69-year-old Shirley B. Fehrle, Luby Brown Road, no known relationship to Michael Cummins.
