A Lafayette man is accused of cutting a fence and stealing hemp plants valued at approximately $2,000.

According to the affidavit of complaint filed by Deputy Josh Meador of the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, 59-year-old Gregory Kucera allegedly cut a fence located on a property that did not belong to him on September 7, 2019.

While on the property, Gregory is said to have taken $2,000 worth of hemp plants from the property before driving off on a moped.

The report states that a witness saw a male subject matching Kucera’s description coming from the property, where the fence was vandalized, with plants in his hands.

The witness also mentioned that the trespasser drove off on a brown moped.

A brown moped matching the witness’ description was found at Kucera’s Spring Creek Rd. residence when authorities arrived to question him.

Gregory Kucera was charged with theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on September 25.
