A 25-year-old Portland man was arrested last week after allegedly cutting the fence at the Macon County Jail to drop contraband for an inmate.

According to the Affidavit of Complaint, written by Detective Shane Gregory, Johnny Lee Ralston Jr. cut the fence at the jail on June 6, 2021, came onto the property, and dropped a cell phone, meth, a hacksaw blade and other items for inmate Daniel Nichols.

A female subject is said to have driven Ralston to Walmart to purchase the items, and then driven him to the jail while he cut the fence, entered the property and made the drop.

She then drove down the road and came back to pick Ralston up.

Ralston was arrested on June June 18, 2021 and charged with criminal trespassing, vandalism, introduction of drugs into a county institution, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth and theft: criminal simulation.

His bond is set at $37,500, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on June 23, 2021.
