Grandfather Arrested: Meth, Cocaine, Heroin & Fentanyl

By Jessie Williams

A 50-year-old Red Boiling Springs man was arrested on multiple drug charges last week after a search warrant was executed at his Jimtown Road residence.

According to Macon County detective Shane Gregory, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted on April 16 by a resident of 2154 Jimtown Rd. who reported that a non-verbal child knocked on their door. The caller did not know where the child lived.

Deputies were able to locate the child’s mother and grandfather, David Kittrell, at 2242 Jimtown Rd. They told officers the child was autistic and wandered away from the house.

While speaking with them, Officer Jacob Law observed an odor of marijuana coming from the home. Mr. Kittrell went inside the residence and wouldn’t come out of the bathroom. When officers went to retrieve him, they noticed a gun on the bathroom counter and that Kittrell had flushed some kind of narcotic down the toilet.

Detective Gregory was able to secure a search warrant for the 2242 Jimtown Rd. residence, where officers discovered approximately 5.71 grams of methamphetamine, 5.81 grams of heroin, .47 grams of pure fentanyl, 5.96 grams of rock cocaine, 2.91 grams of marijuana, 4.5 pills of Xanax, 1.5 pills of Suboxone, digital scales, empty baggies and a .45 caliber handgun.

Mr. Kittrell was arrested and charged with six counts of manufacturing narcotics, manufacture/delivery/possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during a violent felony. His bond was set at $66,000, and he is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on May 18.

The Department of Children’s Services was contacted and has opened an investigation.
