Muscular Dystrophy Claims Life of Local Teen

Jose (Alex) Mendiola was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy at the age of four. While most children were outside playing in the warm sunshine, Alex watched from the living room window.

This disease attacks the muscles and on Saturday afternoon, February 14th, 2009 the Lord called Alex home. He was 17 years old. He was a wonderful young man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jose Mendiola, age 17, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 14, 2009 at the Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.  Funeral Services for Jose Mendiola will be conducted Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson and Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Jose Rodrigez officiating. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery in Lafayette.  

Visitation with the family will be Monday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday until service time at 11 a.m.

The family request Memorial Contributions made to the Family Funeral Fund, these may be made by calling or coming by the funeral home in Lafayette.
