Mrs. Dorothy Dixon, age 77

Mrs. Dorothy Dixon of the Kempville Community died at 5 a.m. Saturday morning, November 14, 2009 at the age of 77 at her Jackie Lane home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Dorothy Dixon of the Kempville Community died at 5 a.m. Saturday morning, November 14, 2009 at the age of 77 at her Jackie Lane home following an extended illness.

Edward J. Anderson officiated at the 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon November 16th funeral services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Gene Butler Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community.

The only child of the late Willie Ensor “Jack” Franklin who died at the age of 70 on December 27, 1978 and the late Velma Mai Woodard Franklin who died at the age of 90 on February 4, 2004, she was born Dorothy Orilla Franklin in the Funns Branch section of Jackson County on August 18, 1932.

Her first husband and the father of her children, Ottis Carthon Dixon, preceded her in death on July 28, 2002 at the age of 71.

She and Mr. Dixon were preceded in death by their twins, Troy and Joy Dixon who died as infants on June 10, 1950.

Mrs. Dixon was employed in the dietary department at Smith County Memorial Hospital from 1980 until her retirement in 1994.

She was a member of the former Ensors Chapel United Methodist Church on Funns Branch.

Surviving are three children, Melissa Skipworth and husband Chris of Goodlettsville, Mark Dixon, and Eddie Dixon and his wife Shelly, all of Kempville; grandchildren, Clay and Shaunna Kizer, Trever Skipworth; great-granddaughter, Kaylor Skipworth.
