Bro. Comer McGuire, Bro. Larry Meadors and Mr. Craighead’s pastor, Bro. Frank Bratcher officiated at the 3 p.m. services. Burial followed in the Gene Butler Cemetery in Brooks Bend Community with Edward L. Anderson officiating. The only child of the late Carsie Allen “Jim” Craighead and Mai Mundy Craighead, he was born Webb Allen Craighead in Lebanon on Dec. 13, 1945 and was reared in the Salt Lick Community of Smith County. At the home of his parents on Dec. 7, 1963 he was united in marriage to the former Joan Dixon by Bro. Comer McGuire. Mr. Craighead had been a member since a teenager at the former Ensors Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Craighead had for many years milked both Grade B and later Grade A on their family farm. Mr. Craighead attended the Carthage Freewill Baptist Church at Tanglewood. He was a 1963 graduate of Smith County High School. Surviving in addition to his wife of forty six years are two sons, Jimmy Craighead and wife Tammy and their three sons, Jordan, Jace, and Josh, Jeff Craighead and wife Tonya and their son, Kevin all of Kempville.

The tumor was discovered on Nov. 28, 2007 and surgery was performed on Dec. 7, 2007. Sun. afternoon March 7th funeral services before an overflow crowd of family and friends were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home.
