She was born in Macon County, Tennessee on October 19, 1949 to the late John Webster and Gertie Mae Blankenship Steen. Besides her parents; one brother, Kenneth Steen, also preceded her in death. Nyoka was married to Jerry Rich on June 25, 1973, sharing thirty-six years together; Jerry survives.
Nyoka was a homemaker, but had worked at different Quick Marts for Becky Sutton, when she could. She got involved with the Cub Scouts for several years and then later volunteered for the Family Readiness Group though the National Guard in Lafayette. Her daughter was in Desert Storm, and she enjoyed working with others who had family at war; trying to help them though the transition, any way she could. Nyoka liked to work crossword puzzles and to embroider, but the greatest past time for her was playing with her animals; two dogs and her bird. She loved and cared for her family and had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter. Nyoka was a member of the Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
She is survived by; husband, Jerry Rich of the Hanestown Community in Macon County, TN, daughter, Michelle Rich of Lafayette, TN, sons, Darrell Rich, and Tim and wife Jacquelyn Rich of Lafayette, TN, brother, Terry and wife Laura Steen of Lafayette, TN, sister-in-law, Roseanna Steen of Indianapolis, IN, grandchild,
Elyssa Mae Rich; also survive.
