Mary was born Wednesday, May 11, 1927 in Jackson County, Tennessee, one of ten siblings of the late Charlie Benton and Lucy Irene Vinson Bartley. On November 8, 1947, she was married to Homer Doyle “Shorty” Lee, who preceded her in death on February 22, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, John, Bobby Ray, Joe and Ed Bartley. Mary was employed with the former Haywood Male Sewing Factory in Red Boiling Springs, TN with 20 years of service and a faithful member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to cook and bake cakes. Mary was well known for remembering people when they were sick with her delicious cooking. Mary Alice Bartley Lee, age 84, of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away, Friday evening, September 9, 2011 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN. Funeral Services for Mary Alice Bartley Lee were conducted Monday afternoon, September 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Jackie Stagner and Elder Ken Graham officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery.
