Flodie Thomas, age 89, of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away, Tuesday morning, December 6, 2011 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs. TN. Funeral Services for Flodie Thomas were conducted Wednesday morning, December 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Elder James “Pee Wee” Massey officiating. Interment followed in the Jenkins Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doyle Bartley, Stanley Miller, David Porter, Pete Sutton, Mark Jenkins and Richard Miller. Flodie was born March 22, 1922 in Smith County, Tennessee, one of four siblings of the late Walter McHenry and Lillian Givens Thomas. He married the former Opal Knight, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2007. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by three loving sisters, Callie Pearl Parkhurst, Bessie Mai Tuck and Beatrice King. Flodie was a farmer. Survivors include: daughter, Shirley Thomas, son, Travis Thomas, granddaughter, Savannah Thomas, nieces, Barbara (Larry) Spivey all of Red Boiling Springs, Carolyn (Skip) Massey, nephew, Charles King all of Lafayette.
