Gladys Hudson Newberry, age 89, of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away Tuesday evening, June 5, 2012 at her son’s residence in Old Hickory, TN. Funeral Services for Gladys Hudson Newberry were conducted Friday afternoon, June 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Terry Austin and Elder Jackie Stagner officiating. Interment followed in the Jenkins Cemetery. Her pallbearers were Joe Dale Owens, Terry Tuck, Cortez Sadler, Stanley Miller, Garry Kirby and Fay Etheridge. Mrs. Gladys was born February 22, 1923 in Macon County, TN, one of four daughters to the late Chesley and Bessie Burton Hudson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Grisham, Frances Smith West and Hattis Miller, her twin. On March 8, 1941, she married Dennis Elbert Newberry, spending 34 years together until his death on November 23, 1975. She was a factory worker and was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by: daughter, Denise Sutton of Red Boiling Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Kay Newberry of Old Hickory, TN; grandchildren, Karen (Jeff) Horner of Ridgetop and Leslie (Brandon) Massengille of Red Boiling Springs; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Stephanie Bowman, Bailey, Sidney and Cooper Massengille.
