James Thompson Hagan, 89, peacefully entered into eternal rest February 21, 2013 in his log cabin which be built when he was 82. Funeral Services for James Thompson Hagan will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Terry Austin and Elder Barry Armour officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery with full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard in Cookeville, TN. Gary Vincent, Bobby Thomas, James Edgar Parkes, Elder Floyd Ferguson, Billy Wheeler, Danny Roark and Phillip Hix will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Fay Etheridge, Neil Dozier, Marty Pedigo, Teddy Bohanan, Tim Bohanan, Jeramiah Copas, Mark Hix and Randy Hagan will serve as active pallbearers. He was a wonderful husband to Emma who preceded him in death and a loving father and role model to Jean and Bill Austin of Tampa, Florida. James was born in Macon County to the late Chet and Norma Hagan and lived his whole life in Red Boiling Springs, TN. One of eight children, he is survived by Georgia Armour and his brother-in-law, Cortez Armour of Red Boiling Springs and his sister, Mildred Roark also of Red Boiling Springs. His sisters Alma Ruth Hix, Myrtle Bohanan and Gladys Vaughn along with brothers, Kenneth and Robert Hagan all preceded him in death. James served as a deacon and loyal supporter of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church for most of his life. He was a kind and giving person and believed in doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. He proudly served with the U. S. Army during WWII, where he was awarded an American Theater Ribbon, A European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars, a Good conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. Many people in and around Macon County are living in homes built by James. He loved his work and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.
