Funeral Services for Margie Murphy were conducted on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother Michael Shockley officiating. Cody Murphy, Kevin Blankenship, Craig Blankenship, John Jones, Clarence “Moody” Gregory and David Hale served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.
Margie Murphy was born on Wednesday, June 15, 1927 in Wilson County, Tenn., one of three siblings born to the late Matt Brewington and Molly Whitehead, who preceded her in death. She was married to the former Will Allen Murphy on November 22, 1952, who preceded her in death September 6, 1991. Besides her parents and husband, brother, James Blankenship, and sister, Lucy Climer preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, babysat for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Lafayette, First Baptist Church. She is survived by, son Wayne (Marilyn) Murphy, of Lafayette sister, Nell Davis of Lebanon, granddaughters, Stacey Barber and Holly (Michael) Shockley, step-granddaughter, Stephanie Blankenship, step grandsons, Kevin and Craig Blankenship all of Lafayette, great-grandchildren, Cody Murphy, Tanner and Chandler Barber, and Hayden and Hannah Shockley, and step great grandchild, Serenity Blankenship and several nephews, nieces and friends.
