The Funeral service for Reverend Carl D. Scruggs was conducted Friday, October 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Eulia General Baptist Church with Reverend Earl Meador and Reverend Wayne Keen officiating. Lannie Meadow, Markie Scruggs, Bobbie Scruggs, Kyle Fisher, Barry Holman, and Mike Scruggs served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Eulia Cemetery. Brother Carl was born on January 9th, 1930 in Macon County, Tenn. He was the son of the late Marshall Paul and Ezma Rose (Leath) Scruggs. On September 18, 1954, he married the former Dixie Lane Shaw, sharing fifty-four years together; she survives. Besides his parents, brothers, Hilton Scruggs, James Scruggs, Billy Ray Scruggs, and infant brother, Lloyd Dean Scruggs, preceded him in death. Brother Carl worked on the assembly line for General Electric for 18 years; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and time with his family. Brother Carl enjoyed life; he was a minister for many years, serving as pastor for many churches in Macon County and other surrounding areas. Besides his wife, He leaves to mourn his passing, son, Johnnie (Marcia) Scruggs, grandchildren, Johnnie Jr. (Sarah) Scruggs, Krista Scruggs, great-grandchildren, Adriah, Abella, Ava, and Jonah Scruggs all of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County, Tenn., sister, Betty Meador of Lafayette, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.
Reverend Carl D. Scruggs, age 78, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
