RBS Bulldogs Bite Saints

  The Red Boiling Springs High School Bulldog football team improved to 2-0 for the 2011 season after hosting Mt. Juliet Christian last Friday night, August 26.

  The last time the Bulldogs faced the Saints was during the season of 2008 when they suffered a 51-20 loss, however this year's team was ready to seek revenge.

 

  The MJC Saints got on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a touchdown and two-pt. conversion, yet Red Boiling Springs won the period with a 7-yd. run by Landon Hassard and a 6-yd. run by Matt French. The Bulldogs continued their scoring streak in the second and third quarters, while denying the Saints the chance to find the endzone.

 

  In the second period the bulldogs pressed forward with a 1-yd. run by A.J. Dale, a 2-yd. run by Dakota Dickens, and a 58-yd. touchdown by Matt French. In the third quarter, Bulldog quarterback Cody Dickens completed a pass to Matt French for a 48-yd. score.

 

  Mt. Juliet Christian achieved one last run before the game's end, as the Bulldogs continued to bring on the heat. A.J. Dale scored on a 16-yd. run, followed by a 25-yd. run by Dakota Dickens.

 

The Bulldogs played a great game against Mt. Juliet Christian, ending the game with a final score of 53-15.

 

A.J. Dale carried the ball for a total of 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead RBS (2-0) past Mt. Juliet Christian (0-2). Landon Hassard added 114 yards of his own for the Bulldogs. Cody Dickens was 11-16 in passing for a total of 153 yards and had three carries for 48 yards. Matt French had two carries for a total of 29 yards and two touchdowns.

 

In receiving: Matt French led the team with four for a total of 103 yards, followed by Jason McCarter who had two for 20 yards, Chase Carter had two for 16 yards, and Dakota Dickens had one for five yards.

 

  Red Boiling Springs next two games will be on the road as they are scheduled to travel to Watertown on September 9 to take on the Purple Tigers, and to Clay County on September 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
