Trousdale County Shuts Out Bulldogs

alt

The Trousdale County Yellow Jackets used their speed and overall talent advantage to roll to a 42-0 victory over the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs last Friday evening.

The game took place down on the Creekbank.

The Yellow Jackets were well aware of the Bulldogs past success rushing the football. For most of this game RBS faced seven and eight men inside the defensive box. This led to very little success for the Bulldog ground game. The Bulldog passing game has not been an option this season and the Yellow Jackets held the visitors to zero completions and picked off four interceptions.

The Yellow Jackets drew first blood on a 62 yard run early in the 1st quarter and minutes later they scored their second touchdown on a 3 yard run. The Bulldog defense came alive and shut-out the Jackets in the 2nd quarter behind the efforts of Billy York, Lee Pruitte, Justin Bergdorf, Jordan Powell, and Dalton Thompson. The Bulldogs also forced two Jacket turnovers in the first half and they headed to the locker room with the score 14-0 Yellow Jackets.

The Jackets struck early in the 3rd period, scoring a touchdown on a 60 yard pitch and catch and a second on a 3 yard run. Trousdale County would add two more touchdowns in the 4th quarter as their second and third string kids saw plenty of action. RBS simply could not get anything going but it was not for a lack of effort.

For the game the Bulldogs total only 104 yards on the ground and nothing through the air. Elijah Byfield rushed for 48 yards 0n 19 carries while Justin Bergdorff led the Bulldogs with 56 yards on 13 carries. All season the Bulldogs have not turned the ball over much. However that stat changed on this night as RBS commits five in this one game alone.

Next week the Bulldogs travel to Gordonsville on Oct 28th to finish out the season. Come out and support the end of season for these Bulldogs.
