The Bulldogs hosted Jackson County and swept the Blue Devils for two big wins.
Lady Bulldog Kennedy Fleming once again was the catalyst as she scored 30 points and claimed 9 rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start as they turned the ball over five times in the first quarter and the score is tied 14 all after the first quarter. The second quarter was the turning point in this game as the Lady Bulldogs decided to play a much more pressing defense holding the Lady Blue Devils to only six points while scoring 20 points and a Lady Bulldog halftime lead of 34-20.
Fleming had 13 first half points while Haley Davis notched 8 followed by Lindsay Randolph with 6 points and Briley Morgan 4 first half points to aid the Lady Bulldogs. Iesha Smith and Liz Anderson each scored 2 points. The Lady Blue Devils were held to 2 free throws and 2 baskets in the second quarter. Briley Morgan came alive in the third quarter scoring 8 points and the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Blue Devils 20-13. Davis had 2 nice three pointers in the third quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs out rebounded the Lady Blue Devils 34 to 20. Hayley McCarter, Jasmine Pruitte, Mary Ellen Copas and Rhiannon Hix played but did not score. Scoring totals were: Fleming 30 points, Morgan 12 points, Davis 16 points, Randolph 7 points (plus 10 rebounds), Anderson 4 points, and Smith had 3 points. The Lady Bulldogs coasted to a 70-46 win in district 6A action.
The boys game was a back and forth game with both teams having the lead in every quarter but the Bulldogs turned on their pressure defense in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs turned to super sub James Sampson who made three free throws to seal a 54-50 victory. Dalton Marsh had six fourth quarter points that got the Bulldogs a four point lead with one minute left in the game.
The Blue Devils led this game 15 to 11 after the first quarter but the Bulldogs led at halftime 25 to 24. Both teams slowed down the game as they looked for good shots but both teams started to go inside looking for points. The Bulldogs turned to Dalton Marsh for points in the paint and he responded with 12 third quarter points plus Mason Hix and Dalton Thompson each had 2 points in a very defensive quarter. Both teams missed good looks in the fourth quarter and the lead changed two times until Marsh made back to back baskets that gave the Bulldogs a lead they would never relinquish.
