DeKalb County Sweeps Red Boiling

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs made the long trip to DeKalb County last Tuesday night and both the boys and girls put up a good effort.

However the final score favored the Lady Tigers 60-49 and the Tigers won 61-36.

Red Boiling Springs played Dekalb on Tuesday night after playing Mt. Juliet Christian on the road on Monday night. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Mt. Juliet Lady Saints by a final score of 48-29 and the Bulldogs lost to Mt.Juliet boys 46-37 but the game was very close for three quarters.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start against the Lady Tigers and trailed 32-14 at halftime. Turnovers and a hot shooting Lady Tiger team and fatigue from playing two straight nights was hurting the Lady Bulldogs. The third quarter was a comeback as the Lady Bulldogs turned to Liz Anderson who made three shots from three point range. Claire Fleming and Lindsay Randolph combined for 11 points which cut the Lady Tigers lead to 47-34 after three quarters. The Lady Bulldogs defense forced the Lady Tigers into seven turnovers early in the fourth quarter and Anderson along with Haley McCarter scored seven straight points. A 46-40 Lady Tiger lead gave the Lady Bulldogs some hope. The Lady Tigers used two timeouts and went on a 6-0 run and a 53-40 lead that the Lady Bulldogs could not overcome.

The Lady Bulldogs scoring totals were: Liz Anderson 21 points, Claire Fleming 16 points, Lindsay Randolph six points, Haley McCarter three points, Bailey Massengille two points, and Gracie West one point.

DeKalb County has one of the best boys teams in the mid-state and they showed just how good against a Bulldog team that had only seven players dressed for this game. The Tigers got off to a great start and coasted to a 61-36 victory. The Bulldogs played hard but the Tiger defense forced the Bulldogs into 12 first half turnovers and a 40-18 lead at the break.

The Bulldogs Colton Copas knocked down five shots from three point range and a 20 point effort by Copas was a career high for the Bulldogs. The only other Bulldog to score points in the fourth quarter was Michael Matthews with three points. Jordan Bohannon had three points and Cody Mea had two points. Chris Hackney had six points and Riley Thompson had two points.

The Bulldogs will return to the hardwood November 30th as Cannon County visits the Dog Pound.
