The Macon County High School Volleyball team finished their season when they lost to Sycamore in the semi-final match on Tuesday Oct 12th. The team finished 3rd their District with a District record of 6-4. The MCHS Volleyball team also finished with a Regular Season record of 17-10. The team received the District 9AA Sportsmanship Award for the year. Two players from Macon County also received individual awards. Cassidy Baughn received All-District, and Megan Smith received All-Tournament.
The Macon County High School Tigers traveled to Livingston Academy on Friday, October 22, and returned home with a huge 34-24 victory.
The Tigers drew first blood with a touchdown by Tyler Drown and a successful PAT by Carson Cook.
Leading off the second period, LA scored a 54-yard touchdown, followed by a run from Tiger Zack Shockley. LA was able to complete two more touchdowns before the halftime buzzer sounded, regaining the lead at 21-13.
Macon County scored early in the third quarter with a touchdown and two-point conversion by Zach Shockley. This run knotted the game for the next eight minutes, until Livingston Academy nailed a 36-yard field goal to have a 24-21 advantage.
The Tigers had a new mind-set, determining defeat would not come easy, and they picked up their game on both sides of the ball.
Opening the fourth quarter, Tiger Dallas Grace ran a quarterback keeper through the middle of the line of scrimmage for a touchdown and a 27-23 lead changeover.
The Blue & White defense was unmovable and eliminated any chance for LA to slip through. With 1:50 left in the contest, Macon County had one last word with their opponent and scored a 17-yard touchdown by Tyler Drown. The PAT by Carson Cook was good, allowing the Tigers to return home with their fourth victory of the 2010 season.
The Tigers have one opponent remaining in the regular season, the Eagles of Westmoreland. This game is scheduled to be played at home on October 29, with kick-off at 7 p.m.
The senior Tiger football players and cheerleader will be honored at 5:30 p.m. This last game of the regular season will be one that Tiger fans will not want to miss!
The score at halftime held Friendship Christian at 41 and Red Boiling Springs scoreless. The domination continued through the last half to show a final score of 62-0.
Red Boiling Springs Stats: #2 Cody Dickens – 2 rushes for 13 yards. #23 Isaiah Washington – 2 rushes for 4 yards. #32 Jeremiah Johnson - 2 rushes for 4 yards. #16 Ty Tuck - 1 rush for –2 yards. For the game the Bulldogs had 28 rushes for 72 yards. 1 for 7 in passing with Cody Dickens for 5 yards and an interception, which was returned for 37 yards by #4 Dylan Boyd by the Commanders for a touchdown.
With the win Friendship Christian School improves their record to 7-2 overall, 5-2 in Region 4-A. With the loss Red Boiling Springs falls to 2-7 overall, 1-7 in Region 4-A.
Red Boiling Springs High School will conclude the 2010 season on the road this Friday night, October 29, at Trousdale County.
Logan Hernandez earned the right to represent her team at the Knoxville Track Club / TennesseeRunner.com State Meet on Saturday, October 16th. She traveled to Knoxville on Friday, October 22nd, and she competed in the State Meet on Saturday, October 23rd. In the girls’ varsity race, Logan finished 43rd with a time of 14:24.52. Her race had 264 participants.
The Middle Tennessee region was very well represented at the meet, with 3 regional runners [Claudia Smith (Central), Jessica Rizor (T.W. Hunter), and Julia Rizor (T.W. Hunter)] finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Also for the region, we had 5 runners in the top ten and 2 teams in the top 5.
This concludes a successful season for the MCJHS Cross Country team and its runners. The team looks forward to a return trip to the state meet next year, and they will begin preparations to accomplish this goal next summer.
It’s that time of year again... The Red Boiling Springs Junior High Boy’s Basketball team played Smith County on October 19, 2010 and won by a score of 44-14.
The Red and Grey came out strong in the first half, scoring 24 points over their opponents and allowing only ten. The second half scoring streak continued with the Bulldogs scoring 20 and allowing the Owls a mere four points. Bulldog Alex Mullinix lead the team with a total of 17 points, followed by Skyler Holden with seven points, Zane Roberts and Nick Deckard recorded five points each, Wesley Davis nailed four points, and Tyler Carlisle, Brince Crouch, and Dallas Greanead scored two points each.
On October 21, 2010, the Red Boiling Springs Boy’s played the Blue Devils of Jackson County and added their second season win by a final score of 43-34.
RBS lead the opening period 13-10, and followed in the second quarter to lead by an advantage of 23-15. The Blue Devils played their biggest points in the third period with a total of 12, allowing the Bulldogs to sink nine points to their lead. Going into the final round, Red Boiling Springs left Jackson County trailing 32-27 and after dominating the last quarter, the Bulldogs claimed a 43-34 victory over the Blue Devils.
Alex Mullinix led the team to victory with a total of 13 points, followed by Skyler Holden with 11 points, Nick Deckard with nine points, Zane Roberts with five points, Dallas Greanead with three points, and Jimmy Langford with two points.
The Red Boiling Spring Junior High Basketball team is scheduled to host Defeated on October 25, with tip off at 6:00 p.m.
