The Macon County Public Library Board of Trustees previously commissioned local artist Linda Johnson to do a sculpture in honor of Mrs. Frances Darnell, which is now displayed in the new foyer at the library.

The "Marisa's Journey to New Lungs" Fundraiser was a huge success.
The fundraiser that was held on Saturday, March 22, for 12-year-old Marisa Wade, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, was a huge success and the family would like to thank everyone who turned out to support “Marisa’s Journey to New Lungs.” Marisa will be making a trip on March 30th to see if she is eligible for a transplant and to be put on the donor’s list. Youth Group Returns From Tornado Ravaged Oklahoma
In the wake of the unrelenting May outbreak of tornadoes that ravaged areas of Oklahoma, the Lafayette Church of Christ Youth Group recently returned from volunteer work in “The Sooner State”.

The annual Arts in the Park, which is sponsored by the Macon County Arts Council, was held on Monday and Tuesday, June 10 and 11 at the Macon County Fairgrounds.

Flying a kite takes a certain expertise and there were certainly several talented flyers as the tethered aircraft dotted the sky at the 4th Annual Lafayette United Methodist Church Kite Flying Event on Saturday, May 25.
