Mildred Elizabeth Cox, of Westmoreland, Tenn. died at the age of 95 on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mildred Elizabeth Cox were conducted from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 3 p.m. with Reverend Malcolm Patton officiating. Tommy Latham, Dr. Tom Tritschler, Bobby Taylor, Matthew Cox, Kevin Marks and Wayne Taylor served as pallbearers. Burial followed in Green Grove Cemetery.
Born Mildred Elizabeth Stone at home in the Cross Lane –Pisgah Community of Macon County, Tenn., on Saturday, March 16, 1912, she was one of four siblings of the late Thomas Odell and Eudella (Jenkins) Stone. She was married to Herlon Cox in 1944, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1967. Besides her husband and parents, two sisters, Omadell Latham and Wilma Stone preceded her in death. She was a college graduate and retired from teaching in 1974 after thirty-five years in the Macon County School System. She was a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church since 1951.
She is survived by, son, James (Cheryl) Cox of Westmoreland, Tenn., daughter, Jeanette (Bobby) Taylor of Manchester, Tenn., sister, Hollice Cothron of Hartsville, Tenn., grandchildren, Dr. Tom (Carmel) Tritschler of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Dr. Jennifer Cox of Nashville, Tenn., Matthew Cox of Knoxville, Tenn., great-grandchildren, Harrison and Hannah Tritschler of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
