Funeral services for William M. Massey, better known as “Park”, age 90, of 1201 Ellington Drive in Lafayette, Tenn. were conducted Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2p.m.

Massey, better known as “Park”, age 90, of 1201 Ellington Drive in Lafayette, Tenn. were conducted Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, Tenn., with Elder Dean Taylor officiating.  Pallbearers were, Billy Roe Massey Randy Freeman, Mack Ratledge, Mickey Massey, Randy Reeves, & Tim Reeves.  Interment followed in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. Park passed away Friday evening, February 22, 2008 at his residence.

William M. Massey was born August 25, 1917, in Trousdale, Tenn., the son of the late William I. and Mary Jane Beasley Massey.  On August 23, 1943, he married Inez Burrow, who survives.  Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Woodmore, Kate Wilburn, Susie Massey & Lela Butler, brothers, Brice, Jessie, Tom, & Sam Massey; great-grandson, Randy Dewayne Freeman, Jr.  He was a member of the Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  He was a farmer, veteran of World War II receiving a purple heart, member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge #664, served on the Macon County School Board for 16 years, North Central Telephone Coop. Board of Directors for 27 years, former Macon County Commissioner. 

Besides his wife, Inez of 64 years, survivors include: sons & daughters-in-law, Elder James “Pee Wee” (Judy) Massey, Pleasant Shade, Donald “Skip” (Carolyn) Massey, Lafayette, sister, Alvis Massey Taylor, Gallatin, brother, Herman “Kat” Massey, Beech Grove, grandchildren, Mickey (Linda) Massey, Livingston, Minda (Mack) Ratledge, Dixon Springs, Cindy (Randy) Freeman, Lafayette, great-grandchildren, Jessi & Kayci Freeman, Lafayette, Xander Ratledge, Dixon Springs, and a host of friends and relatives.
