Christine H. Harris, 86

Christine H. Harris, of Lafayette, died at the age of 86 on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Macon County General Hospital.

Christine HarrisFuneral services for Christine Harris were conducted from the Lafayette United Methodist Church on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Tom Binford and Reverend Terrance Harris officiating.  Charlie Darnell, Mike Reece, Bill Wells, Tom Roberts, Lonnie Stephens, and J.R. Howser served as pallbearers.  Burial followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Born Christine Parker in Macon County, Tennessee, on Thursday, March 24, 1921, to the late Will and Lois (Hargis) Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank O. “Buck” Harris, on December 1, 1980, and good friend Will T. Coulter. She was a graduate of the Tennessee College for Women in Murfreesboro, Tenn.  She taught Math and English at Macon County High School prior to working 37 Years with Macon County Department of Human Services, was a member of the A & G Embroidery Guild of America, where she served as Treasurer, and Embroidery Guild of America, both in Nashville, was Past President of Lafayette Rotary Club, served on the Macon County General Hospital Board, she was a member of the Eastern Star, Lafayette Chapter # 379 and she and her late husband owned the former Harris Dry Goods Store in Lafayette. She was a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church, where she had served as organist, member of the choir, and Choir Director.  She loved traveling, music, and bird watching.
She is survived by; Cathy (James) White, Mikie and Greg White, Sammie Colter, Special Caregiver, Jo Ann Davis all of Lafayette, Tenn., Reverend Terrance (Sally) Harris of N. C., Sam (Ann) Harris of La., Sharon Morton, and Lee Miller both of Lafayette, Tenn., and Carla Martinez of Nashville, Tenn.
