Fonza Katherine Meador, of Lafayette, died at the age of 95 on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Knollwood Manor.
Funeral services for Fonza Katherine Meador were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Guthrie Gregory and Reverend Kenneth Sullivan officiating. Sammie Hire and E.H. Jones served as honorary pallbearers. Jackie McClard, Bobby Meador, Barry Meador, Scott Gammons, H.N. Reid, and Hillas Walrond served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in Haysville Cemetery.
Born Fonza Katherine Meador in Macon County, Tenn. on Thursday, November 7, 1912, one of two siblings to the late Jenie A. and Effie (Walrond) Meador. She was married in 1932 to Buel Meador, who preceded her death in 1983. Besides her husband and parents, on son, Rondle Meador preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and mother of two children; she had cooked for Macon County General Hospital, the old Haysville School, Imperial Reading Cafeteria and anyone who wanted to come to her house to eat. She had been an employee at Westmoreland Manufacturing, also. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church.
She is survived by; daughter, Wanda Halliburton of Lafayette, Tenn., daughter-in-law, Judy Meador of Scottsville, Ky., sister, Calcie Edmonson of Fort Myers, Fla., granddaughter, Crystal Halliburton of Lafayette, grandsons, Bobby Meador of Scottsville, Ky., and Barry (Cindy) Meador of the Hanestown Community, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren.
