Foye May Cherry, 89
Foye May Cherry, of Lafayette, died at the age of 89, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Macon County General Hospital.
Funeral services for Foye May Cherry were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Elder J.B. Shoulders and Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. Dwayne Shrum, Barry Shrum, Jamie Dallas, Brian Dallas, Chris Sullivan, Timothy Walker, Keith Chitwood, and Mike Morris served as pallbearers. Burial followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.
Foye May Cherry was born in Macon County, Tenn., on March 6, 1919, born one of four siblings to the late W.R. and Lora Ona (Dillard) Pedigo, her mother died when she was eighteen months old and her stepmother Emma Pedigo raised her. She was married to J.D. Dallas in 1937, who preceded her in death in 1978. She married Earl Cherry, who preceded her in death on October 22, 1996. Besides her husbands and parents, brothers, Carl Pedigo, Herman Pedigo, and sister, Ruby McClard preceded her in death. She worked as an employee for Genesco, later known as “Formfit Rogers” in Lafayette, was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by, a son and daughter-in-law, Donald (Velma) Dallas, daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby (Bobby) Shrum, Opal (Jerry) Walker, grandchildren, Jamie Dallas, Brian Dallas, Angie Sullivan, Dwayne Shrum, Barry Shrum, Lisa Chitwood all of Lafayette, Tenn., Marquetta Morris of Lousiville, Ky., and Tim Walker of Franklin, Tenn., 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
