Hattie Marie Jones, 88

Hattie Marie Jones, of Lafayette, died at the age of 88, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Knollwood Manor.

Hattie JonesFuneral services for Hattie Marie Jones were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Elder Jeff Blackwell and Elder Don Curtis officiating.  Leon Fuqua, Glen Pedigo, Joe Dell Miller, Wendell Jones, Bill Wells, and Doyle Pruitt served as honorary pallbearers.  Kevin Nurre, Carl Leary, Clint Coleman, Aaron Coleman, Keith Hare, and Tim Brothers served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.            

Hattie Marie Jones was born in Macon County, Tenn. on July 28, 1919 one of seven siblings born to the late Jahue Lucus (Luke) and Agnes Josephine (Reid) Fuqua.  She was married to Donnie Lee Jones on December 27, 1937, who preceded her in death on September 2, 1985.  Besides her husband and parents, son, Larry Kendall Jones, brothers, Raymond Fuqua, Burl Fuqua, Cordell Fuqua, and Wallace Fuqua, sisters, Lillie Russell and Lela Gross preceded her in death.  She was a Certified Nurses Aid for twenty-two years at the Smith-Chitwood Hospital.  She was a mother who had a great passion for her four children and their families; she was a member of the New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.  

She is survived by, daughters and sons-in-law, Oneita (Paul) Craighead of Huntsville, Ala., Sherrill (Elder Ottis) Jones of Hendersonville, Tenn., Rhonda (Michael) Cothron of Lafayette, Tenn., granddaughters, Jennifer (Clint) Coleman, Julie (Carl) Leary, Joan (Kevin) Nurre all of Huntsville, Ala., Amy (Tim) Brothers, Emily (Keith) Hare, and Elizabeth Cothron, great-grandchildren, Aaron and Abigal Coleman, Anna Claire and Olivia Leary, Nicholas, Alexander and Jane Carol Nurre, Henry, Adele, and Mark Brothers, Charlotte and Ava Grace Hare.
