Mildred Thomas Goad, 69

Mrs. Mildred Thomas Goad, age 69 of the Russell Community died of cancer at 1:07 p.m. Sunday afternoon April 6, 2008 at her Carthage Road home with friends and her family at her bedside.

Wednesday afternoon April 9, funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. by Eld. James Thomas Gibbs and Bro. Gerald Ragland from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park in Lafayette.

Born Mildred Glendell Thomas in the Difficult Community, she was one of two children of the late Cordell Pleas and Grace Gregory Thomas.

Her only sibling, Terry Thomas, preceded her in death. She was married on December 21, 1954 to D.L. Goad of Russell Hill. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1994.

Mrs. Goad was a member of the Russell Missionary Baptist Church.

She was an employee for over ten years at Measure Up in Lafayette where she worked as a seamstress thru the second week of January.

Surviving are two children, Mike Goad and wife Beverly and their son Devin of Russell Hill, Kim Phillips and husband Chris and their children, Riley and Carly all of Lafayette.
