Edd Harp, of Lafayette, died at the age of 92, Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
Funeral services for Edd Harp were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Jerry Mercer officiating. Jesse Emery, Steve Moss, Harold Leath, Tim Harp, Edward Sircy, Jimmy Harp, Eli Doss, and Jacob Doss served as pallbearers. Burial followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.
Edd Harp was born in the Moss community of Clay County, Tenn., on July 15, 1915, to the late Sib and Ollie (Gettings) Harp. He married the former Estelle Cherry on August 28, 1940, who preceded him in death on October 23, 2004. Besides his wife and parents, a twin brother, Fred Harp preceded him in death. He had worked as an employee for the Tennessee State Highway Department; he enjoyed and took great pride working in his vegetable garden. He was baptized at the Moss Church of Christ and was currently a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ.
He is survived by, daughter, Dorothy (Delton) Doss of Lafayette, Tenn., grandsons, Anthony Doss, Barry (Martha) Doss all of Lafayette, Tenn., Jeff (Beth) Doss of Rockvale, Tenn., great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Chelsea, Katlyn, Eli, Jacob, and Lydia Doss.
The family requests memorials in the form of donations be made to the Lafayette Church of Christ Youth Fund, Disaster Relief or Rockvale Church of Christ BAJA Mission Fund.
