Nina Hackett Gregory, 96
Mrs. Nina Hackett Gregory, age 96, a homemaker of Pleasant Shade, died at 6:50 a.m. Monday morning, April 28, 2008 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in South Carthage following a brief illness.
Wednesday afternoon, April 30, funeral services will be conducted by Eld. Charles Jones from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Sanderson Cemetery at Pleasant Shade.
Born Nina Grace Hackett in Pleasant Shade on January 14, 1912, she was one of six children of the late Hugh West and Mrytle Arthenia Sanderson Hackett.
Two sisters preceded her in death, Dorothy Kemp and Lois Sloan as did two brothers, Jack Hackett and former Smith County Sheriff, Joe Hackett.
At the age of 14 in June of 1924, she was married to 17 year old Thomas Barnett Gregory also of Pleasant Shade. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1984 after sixty-two years of marriage.
Mrs. Gregory was a member of the former Sanderson Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Shade.
Surviving are two children, Wendolyn Dixon and husband Glenn of Pleasant Shade, Gary Gregory and wife Janice of Pleasant Shade; sister, Blanche Haley of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Shelia Dixon and husband Domenic Barbato of Dallas, Texas, Tim Dixon and wife Pat of Smithville, Jana Massey and husband Chris of Algood, Shannon Gregory and wife Ann of Pleasant Shade; four great-grandchildren; Mason, Abbi, Isabel and Hanna Lea.
The Gregory family has requested memorials to the Sanderson Cemetery Fund.
