Jewell Berdene Perdue, 88

Jewell Berdene Perdue, age 88, of the Underwood Community in Macon County, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Jewell PerdueFuneral services for Jewell Berdene Perdue will be conducted on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Greg Wilson officiating. Michael Rooney, Daniel Rooney, Michael Perdue, Nathan Perdue, Steve Wilson, and Robbie Wilson served as pallbearers.  Interment will follow in the Underwood Cemetery.

Jewell Berdene Perdue was born on March 05, 1920 in Macon County, Tenn., one of four siblings and two half-sisters born to the late Coy and Meadie (Doss) Wooten.  She was married to Tilmon Perdue on April 30, 1934, who preceded her in death on August 30, 2007 after sharing seventy-three years of marriage.  Besides her parents, and husband, one son, Edward Perdue, one brother, Hollis Wooten, twin infant brothers, two half-sisters, Sarah Wooten Key, May Lou Wooten Whitson, two grandsons and one granddaughter, preceded her in death.

Ms. Jewell had been an employee of William H. Block in Indianapolis, Ind. were she retired.  She enjoyed been at home cooking and cleaning, and was a member of Akersville Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by; daughters, Claris Rooney of Warthan, Ga., Wanda (Robert) O`Donoghue, and Priscilla (David) Taylor all of Lafayette, Tenn., Leona (Robert) McElyea of Indianapolis, Ind., daughter-in-law, Celeste Perdue of Minot, N.D., step-mother, Gracie Wooten of Bainbridge, Ind., thirty-four Grandchildren, sixty-six Great-grandchildren, thirty great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild

The family request memorials in the form donations be made to the Underwood Cemetery. These can be made at the Alexander Funeral Home.
