Mildred Cuma Shoulders, 75

Mildred Cuma Shoulders, age 75, of the Enon Community in Macon, Tenn., passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Macon County General Hospital.

Mildred Cuma ShouldersFuneral services for Mildred Cuma Shoulders were conducted Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Enon Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating.  Dr. Hanna Ilia served as honorary pallbearer. Richard Sanders, Scott Harrell, Jeff Regan, Mike Webb, Shannon Carter, Benny Meador, Gary Brewster, Ricky Fleming served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in the Enon Cemetery.

Mildred Cuma Shoulders was born on January 11, 1933 in Macon County, Tenn., one of four siblings to the late Thomas Mitchell and Erma Dell (Blankenship) Carter.  She was married to Elder J.E. Shoulders on June 12, 1948, who survives and resides in the Enon community. Besides her parents, infant daughter, Melba Jean Shoulders, and one brother, Gerald “Jamup” Carter preceded her in death.

Cuma was a homemaker, who loved to be around her family and friends; she was always supportive of her husband’s ministry and with him every time she could go.  She was a member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by; husband, Elder J.E. Shoulders of the Enon Community in Macon County, Tenn., son, Harold (Marlene) Shoulders of Westmoreland, Tenn., daughter, Kathy (Fred) Dunlap of Maryville, Tenn., brothers, Stephen (Jean) Carter, and Mitchell (Donna) Carter all of the Enon Community of Macon County, Tenn., six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
